Springs Secure Home Semi Final Spot
Seddon Fields will host it's biggest game on Sunday 19th August in the National Women's Knockout Cup Semi Final. Western Springs have been drawn at home to Wellington league leaders Seatoun. Its the first time Springs have been drawn at home in the National Knockout Cup in the last two seasons and signals a landmark occasion for the club. Leave the date free in your diaries with the likely kick off time to be 1pm. Details of the game will be confirmed in due course and the club will be announcing some supporter ideas shortly. It's important we make home advantage count, so get ready to be green and white for the day. Springs are aiming to reach the National Cup Final for the second consecutive year. Like Springs, Seatoun also made the semi finals last season losing to eventual winners Lynn Avon Utd.
Springs made sure they would be in the draw for the semi finals of the National Knockout Cup for the second year running as they ran out 3-1 winners away at Claudelands Rovers. Pam Yates was in top form as Springs fought hard in tough conditions to make the final four. The Galloway Park pitch didn't make it easy for a crisp passing game so fight and determination in sticky mud was needed for the Springs team and fight they did. Rebecca O'Neil opened the scoring on 9 minutes with a nice finish inside the box, an own goal doubled the lead on 13 minutes with Springs on top but Claudelands fought back and made the game difficult for the hoops. Chelsey Wood settled the contest on 86 minutes cooly slotting home from 20 yards.
