The first pre-season game of the campaign produced some very positive displays on a very hard and bumby pitch at Riversdale Reserve in Avondale. Playing a against the clubs Div3 Mens Team the team produced a good tactical display which can be built on in the coming weeks before the season kicks off.
The team keep a clean sheet in the first third showing good shape and structure, the second third was a little bit dissapointing as the team's defence was broken on 4 occasions but they got themselves back on track with a superb perfomance in the last third to take lots of positives and confidence into the coming weeks.
Coaches Jose Figueira and Paul Temple were pleased with the overall performance.
"Today was about us and how we organised ourselves out of possession, it was also a chance for the players to build up their match fitness before the season starts."
"We did really well in the first third and were hard to break down, the shape looked good and we showed some quality at times. The second third was a bit dissapointing to concede 4 goals and we lost our way a bit. Bianca made at least 4-5 fantastic saves to keep the score down too but during the last third we put in a great performance."
"We tried players in un-familiar positions which is always hard but there were lots of good performances out there. We saw today that we have two quality goalkeepers which is always important, they both made some great stops and organised well. The midfield four were excellent in the last third and that made a big difference to our performance overall."
"Were happy with that as a first run out, once we get back to Seddon Fields we will keep the ball better as the field was hard to play on, we have lots to improve on but were confident we can do that quickly because all the players are taking on board the information well."
A number of new players were also on show with Pam Yates, Bianca Mori, Nardia Yaw, Chelsey Wood, Katherine Robinson, Annabelle Bramwell, Mel Drumm and Holly Jones all making their first appearances in the hooped shirts.
